Oscar for Best Animated Short Film

A unique film adaptation of Sergei Prokofiev's ballet. Using an lavish, rich set design and stop-motion animation, the authors transport us into the middle of a winter fairy tale. In a lonely cottage at the edge of the forest lives the eponymous Peter with his grandfather. Deprived of friendship, he develops a relationship with the household animals. When his companions fall prey to a wild wolf, the boy decides to capture the beast. The international success of the film and its quality are the effect of the work of a large production crew, consisting of filmmakers from Łódź, Norway and Great Britain.
